COLGADA A move where both dancers lean out away from each other

CORTE Cut

CRUZADA The cross. Crossing one foot in front or behind the other

DOBLE TIEMP Double time

GANCHO A hook

GIRO Turn

LÁPIZ Pencil. A circular figure with one foot drawing on the floor

MILONGA 1 The music of a dance, quicker and more upbeat than tango

MILONGA 2 A place to dance tango

MILONGUERO Those frequenting milongas and considered tango enthusiasts

OCHO A figure eight

PARADA A stop

PASADA Passing Over. Occurs when the leader has stopped the follower with foot contact and leads the follower to step forward over the leader's extended foot

SACADA A displacement of the feet or legs

SALÓN A style of dancing for the milonga or small club

TRASPIE Triple step

VALS Waltz done to tango music in waltz time

VOLCADA To tip over. A falling step. The leader causes the follower to tilt or lean forward and fall off axis
