8 WEEK BEGINNER COURSE COMMENCING 17 AUGUST
The course will explore the key elements of tango that together make up the ‘tango toolkit’. By the end of the course we hope you will be able to take to the floor and enjoy dancing tango socially anywhere in the world!
The course will cover posture, connection and the 'tango walk', along with the dynamic elements of the dance. Each class will build on the previous week’s lesson, so ideally participants will attend all sessions. If you can’t attend all sessions please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.
You can come with or without a partner. We swap partners regularly so you get to know your class mates as well as have the chance to dance with a wide range of people – one of the joys of tango. If any class participants prefer not to swap partners this is fine, although we can guarantee by the end of the course you will be swapping along with everyone else!
The course will run on Wednesdays at 7.30-8.30pm from 17 August to 5 October. This includes a ‘guided practica’ session when you will have the opportunity to practice what you have learned, focusing on areas you may find more challenging, with the teachers on hand to give friendly guidance if you need it. You can then go on dancing until 10.30pm if you have the energy!
The cost of the course is £40 (£32 concessions) to be paid in advance.

Laura and Mike were introduced to tango when travelling in South America in 2003. They returned to Buenos Aires a year later to immerse themselves in studying the dance and attending milongas1. They continued learning and dancing regularly when they moved to Glasgow. Whilst there they organised annual weekend tango events featuring teachers from Buenos Aires. They also taught regularly at a weekly milonga. Since living in Aberdeenshire they have enjoyed the tango scene here and have been part of the teaching team in Tango Aberdeen for several years.
Their style of tango is based on the development of the connection through the embrace. Their teaching style focuses on the energy and dynamics of movement. As teachers they hope to give students the tools and confidence to play and improvise to find different possibilities within the dance.
