IT was wonderful to see everyone practice the back ocho in last week's class and put it into the dance. Tango Aberdeen is ready and waiting for you!

Tango Aberdeen is ready! Are you?

This week's classes we are keeping with the 'theme' of musicality and bring you Milonga!

Now, some of you may be a little confused as there are two definitions of the word 'milonga' - the first is the place to dance tango socially, and the second is a form of dance.  We are therefore having our classes on the topic of the dance milonga.

Milonga can be described as a dance with cheekiness and is often reflected in the amusing lyrics to match the fun spirit of the dance.  Milonga need not be a fast dance and is usually danced with smaller steps to a 2/4 rhythm.

At 7.30pm for the Foundation class Fiona and John will teach the traspié - cut step, and for the Dynamic class at 8.45pm they will show how the back ocho can be danced in milonga.  (Check out our Classes page to see the level of dancer for each class).

Learn to dance Argentine tango – 8 week course for the beginner

The course will explore the key elements of tango that together make up the ‘tango toolkit’.  By the end of the course we hope you will be able to take to the floor and enjoy dancing tango socially anywhere in the world!

The course will cover posture, connection and the 'tango walk', along with the dynamic elements of the dance.  Each class will build on the previous week’s lesson, so ideally participants will attend all sessions.  If you can’t attend all sessions please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.

You can come with or without a partner.  We swap partners regularly so you get to know your class mates as well as have the chance to dance with a wide range of people – one of the joys of tango.  If any class participants prefer not to swap partners this is fine, although we can guarantee by the end of the course you will be swapping along with everyone else!

The course will run on Wednesdays at 7.30-8.30pm from 11 January to 1 March 2017 .  This includes two ‘guided practica’ sessions when you will have the opportunity to practice what you have learned, focusing on areas you may find more challenging, with the teachers on hand to give friendly guidance if you need it.  You can then go on dancing until 10.30pm if you have the energy!

The cost of the course is £40 (£32 concessions) to be paid in advance.

Course teachers

Laura and Mike were introduced to tango when travelling in South America in 2003.They returned to Buenos Aires a year later to immerse themselves in studying the dance and attending milongas.  They continued learning and dancing regularly when they moved to Glasgow.  Whilst there they organised annual weekend tango events featuring teachers from Buenos Aires.  They also taught regularly at a weekly milonga.  Since living in Aberdeenshire they have enjoyed the tango scene here and have been part of the teaching team in Tango Aberdeen for several years.

Their style of tango is based on the development of the connection through the embrace. Their teaching style focuses on the energy and dynamics of movement.  As teachers they hope to give students the tools and confidence to play and improvise to find different possibilities within the dance.

As we expected the workshops were brilliantly presented by Jenny and Ricardo - they are such superb teachers, with a fantastic sense of humour and warmth.  Their performance in the evening was an absolute joy to watch with their wonderful connection and beautiful movements across the dance floor.

The music at the Milonga was brilliantly presented by Thomas Meyer, sharing his musical journey throughout the evening and keeping the dance floor alive with lovely tango dancers!

Thank you everyone, from the Tango Aberdeen crew.

YOUR TANGO WEEKEND STARTS RIGHT HERE!

Tango Aberdeen is proud to bring you a wonderful weekend of Argentine tango 12 and 13 November.

International workshop presenters, performance at the Saturday Milonga from the fantastic Jenny & Ricardo Oria, guest DJ, Milongas, friendly people, and lots and lots of dancing!

See you in the ballroom of the Station Hotel, Aberdeen for a brilliant weekend.

A GREAT WEEKEND AHEAD!

Yes, it's nearly time to welcome the brilliant Jenny and Ricardo Oria to Aberdeen.

This coming weekend we have some wonderful tango lined up for you.  Two days of Argentine tango workshops presented by the fantastic Jenny and Ricardo.  We still have places available for couples on all the workshops, and if you are a leader there could be a place for you too! Get in touch with us via email: tangoaberdeen@gmail.com

Jenny and Ricardo are a talented and inspiring Argentine tango couple. They have been based in Scotland, Edinburgh, since 2002 where they run their tango school. They are often to be found in different places giving workshops and performing Argentine tango. These include towns and cities all over the UK, Europe, USA and Argentina.

Jenny and Ricardo’s style of dancing and style of teaching is Tango de Salón, which is Tango for the dance floor. They are friendly, approachable, detailed in their explanations, and attentive to the group and the individual. Their love and commitment for the dance is clearly visible in the way... they work together.

Saturday evening we have a lovely Milonga when you will be able to dance the night away, from 8pm until 12.30am, to the wonderful tunes of DJ Thomas Meyer.  Tom plays traditional music, mostly from the Golden Age. His inspiration has been taken from the wide variety of DJs he’s heard from across the UK, Europe, and Buenos Aires, from which he has developed his own style and approach. His aim is to develop an energy and feeling in the Milonga that makes people want to dance, and to share in a musical journey for the evening.

Check out our newsletter of 29 September for full details of the weekend!

The whole weekend takes place in the ballroom of The Station Hotel, Guild Street, Aberdeen.

MILONGA with special guests!

Their performances have been described as pristine, glowing, full of warmth, spectacular, engaging, joyful, spellbinding, with deep simplicities, and skilful.  So you have to join us to see this for yourself!

For the first time at one of our events we have a guest DJ joining us - THOMAS MEYER.

Tom began his DJ life in Edinburgh. He plays traditional music, mostly from the Golden Age. His inspiration has been taken from the wide variety of DJs he’s heard from across the UK, Europe, and Buenos Aires, from which he has developed his own style and approach. His aim is to develop an energy and feeling in the Milonga that makes people want to dance, and to share in a musical journey for the evening.

Let's bring a little piece of Argentina to the ballroom of the Station Hotel and fill the dance floor with beautiful tango dancers.

This Wednesday evening from 8.30 to 10.30 we have our monthly P R A C T I L O N G A when you can practice (please keep to the centre of the dance floor) or just dance!

We look forward to welcoming all levels of dancer to St Margaret's church hall on Gallowgate for a relaxed, sociable evening of tango, vals and milonga.

£3 entry (or if you intend coming along to the class beforehand it will be £6, or £5 for concessions).

It may be cold outside but you will get a warm welcome from the Tango Aberdeen crew!

Where have all the .................. gone?!

Strange things are happening at Tango Aberdeen and not sure it has anything to do with ghosts, witches or pumpkins!

We seem to be missing a few followers at our Wednesday classes and leaders are not getting to dance as much as they could.  But, we are calling out for more leaders to join our J&R workshops on 12 and 13 November!  What's going on?

Come on!  Just because it's cold outside or the nights are getting darker, no excuse not to dance tango.  Come and brighten up St Margaret's church hall and put sparkle into everyone's feet!

Fine Tune!

Fine tune - make small adjustments in order to achieve the best or a desired effect.

This is what our class on Wednesday is all about!  Come along to St Margaret's church hall on Gallowgate at 7.30pm to find out how to 'fine-tune' elements of the tango dance to make you look good and feel more confident on the dance floor.  This class is best suited to those who have basic knowledge of the dance.

The class will be followed by a Practica until 10pm where you can practice and dance to your heart's content.  It is a very, very relaxed evening with music in tandas of predominantly tango, but with some vals and milonga tracks (there are no cortinas).

We hope you can make it!

Class structure changes!

Please check out our Classes page for full details of our revised programme up to the festive period!

We look forward to welcoming our dancers from the Beginner Courses and all those who have knowledge of the dance fundamentals at our 'new' Post Beginner classes and all other tango dancers of all levels each Wednesday.

Keep dancing! (Strictly Argentine tango, of course).

Laura and Mike were introduced to tango when travelling in South America in 2003.  They returned to Buenos Aires a year later to immerse themselves in studying the dance and attending milongas1.

PRACTICA - WEDNESDAY 6 JULY!

Come and join us for an evening of beautiful tango in the heart of Aberdeen from 7.30 to 10.00. An informal occasion to meet with other dancers and socialise, practice, or just dance! The music will be mostly tango, without cortinas, but if you would like waltz or milonga just ask and we will oblige.  There will be guidance available if you need assistance - just ask!

£3 entry

The floor and music awaits you!

Two weeks before we take a break!

We offer you a wooden dance floor, the music, and some dance guidance if needed.  Come along to St Margaret's church hall for a Practica from 7.30 to 10.00 for the next two Wednesdays and just dance!

The music will be without tandas and cortinas and mostly tango - but if you wish some waltz or milonga just ask!

Entry fee is £3.

We look forward to seeing you.

PRACTILONGA!

This Wednesday from 7.30 to 8.30 there will be a class open to all tango dancers - so get your shoes at the ready!

From 8.30 to 10.30 the dance floor is open for everyone to practice or just dance the night away!  The music will be in a traditional format of tandas with cortinas, and will include tango, vals and milonga.  For those of you who wish to practice we ask you to use the centre of the dance floor leaving the outer area for those wishing to dance as in a Milonga.

The whole evening will cost £6 (£5 concessions), or £3 for just the Practilonga.

St Margarets church hall on Gallowgate awaits you!

IT MAY BE THE LAST TANGO FOR FLAVIA AND VINCENT BUT IT COULD BE THE FIRST FOR YOU!

8 week Beginner Course Wednesdays at 7.30-8.30pm from 17 August to 5 October.

Each class will build on the previous week’s lesson.

The cost of the course is £40 (£32 concessions) to be paid in advance.

Another great night!

We had another great night of tango.

See you next week!

What's on offer?

This Wednesday we have our 7th week of the Beginner Course which will introduce the Giro.  As this particular 'move' is a bit tricky we will have Part One this week and Part Two next week.  If you are one of our regular dancers you are more than welcome to join us for this class but you may be required to take turns to 'sit out' if numbers are not balanced.

The Improver/Intermediate (and other experienced dancers) class will have you dancing the Planeo, incorporating a Boleo!

7.30 to 8.30 Beginner Course

8.30 to 8.45 Dance interval - the dance floor and music is there for you to practice

8.45 to 9.30 Improver/Intermediate (and those more experienced dancers)

9.30 Just dance!

St Margaret's is ready and waiting for you!

The cross!

What another great class last night.  Laura and Mike introduced the cross, which proved a challenge to everyone.  It is a difficult one to master but practice is the key and once mastered is a vital piece of the tango jigsaw.

The Practilonga went well with lots of the dancers from the beginners course staying on to dance.  Just great to see!

Until next week.............................................

PRACTILONGA TIME!

Tomorrow night we have two hours of beautiful tango. Get yourself ready to dance at St Margaret's church hall on Gallowgate from 8.30 to 10.30. £3 entry

We're ready and waiting for you to fill the dance floor!

See you there.

Just great!

Once again Laura and Mike taught two very good classes last night.  We are seeing great progress with our beginners, and the dancers in the second class were given a topic that was a bit of a brain teaser!

Watch this space for what's in store next week!

Happy dancing!

Wednesday magic!

This Wednesday we will be into the fifth week of the Beginner Course**, from 7.30 to 8.30, when Laura and Mike will re-visit the forward and backward ocho and introduce the parada and a pasada.

Parada - to stop.  The leader (usually the man) stops the follower (usually the woman), preventing further movement.

Pasada - passing over.  When the leader has stopped the follower with foot contact, an invitation is given for the follower to step forward over the leader's extended foot.  A pasada provides an opportunity for the follower to add adornments, if given time.

There will be a 15 minute dance interval to practice before the Improver/Intermediate class at 8.45. Keeping in the 'Changes of Direction' theme, Laura and Mike will explore 'rebotars' - bounces, for playful changes of direction.  The evening will finish with half and hour of dancing time.

We look forward to seeing you!

** We are now unable to accept any complete beginners as we are well into the course content.

Tonight!

This evening starting at 7.30 we have the fourth week of our Beginner Course when Laura and Mike will go over the various elements taught in the previous weeks, specifically focusing on the ocho - this week the backward ocho.  Remember if you are one of our regular dancers you will be able to join in but if the numbers are unbalanced may be asked to rotate out.

The second class will explore different walking turns remaining in the theme of 'changes of direction' - starting at 8.45.

As usual there will be half an hour at the end of the evening to just dance!

We hope to see you at St Margarets.

Brilliant!

Yes, yet again a great turnout last night, especially for the Beginner Course.  It was lovely to see our new dancers progress and go through the motions of the forward ocho. Our second class was interesting with the change of direction in the giro including sacadas to add a different dimension for improvisation.

Looking forward to next week when Laura and Mike will bring something more to challenge the dancers of Tango Aberdeen.

Bring it on!

What's on offer?

This Wednesday is the third week of the Beginner Course and the dancers will learn an iconic piece of tango - the forward ocho!  We will have a 15 minute practice break before the next class at 8.45pm.

As part of this term's Change of Direction theme for the improver/intermediate class, Laura and Mike will be teaching sacadas in the giro, clockwise and anti-clockwise.  Half an hour of dancing, for everyone, will follow the class at 9.30pm.

Our regulars who support us each week are welcome to join in the first class but may be required to rotate out if the numbers do not balance.

We look forward to another lovely evening of Argentine tango.

Last night!

We had another great evening of tango last night with the second session of our Beginner Course followed by the Practilonga.  Some of the beginners stayed for a little while at the Practilonga and seemed keen to practice what they had learned in class - that's great!

Don't forget the next Practilonga, 25 May, when the floor at St Margaret's will be there waiting for you to enjoy dancing tango, vals and milonga.  A great way to improve your dancing and to get to know others.  It's a very relaxed affair and we look forward to seeing you.

Until then - keep dancing!

Fantastic!

What a night we had with lots of new dancers gracing the dance floor at St Margarets!

There was a buzz about the place as Laura and Mike taught the first session of the Beginners Course.  Connect, embrace and walk -  that's what we did!

We look forward to seeing you all again next week for another exciting session of tango.

Don't forget the Improver/Intermediate class follows the Beginners Course session at 8.45pm.

Let's keep Argentine tango alive in Aberdeen.

Class details!

Commencing on 20 April we have our Beginner Course from 7.30 to 8.30 for a 10 week period. During this time the participants will have a structured programme to learn the art of tango right from the start, and by the end should be able to feel confident dancing at social occasions (Milongas).

8.30 to 8.45 we have a short dance interval before our next class

8.45 to 9.30 Class for improver/intermediate dancers.  At this class you must have a degree of confidence with ochos, the giro, and the cross to allow everyone to enjoy a more challenging class.

9.30 to 10.00 Just dance!

We hope the new format will introduce more dancers to the wonderful world of Argentine tango and look forward to seeing you at St Margaret's church hall on Wednesday.

This week's tango!

Fiona and John are back with us this Wednesday to teach both classes at St Margaret's hall.  Get yourself along!

8.30pm to 8.45pm Dance interval

8.45pm to 9.30pm The next level up! For those dancers who have a degree of confidence with ochos, the giro and the cross.

9.30pm to 10pm  Just dance!

See you there.

LEARN TO DANCE ARGENTINE TANGO IN 10 WEEKS!

10 week course for the beginner commencing Wednesday 20 April

The course will run on Wednesdays at 7.30-8.30pm from 20th April to 22nd June.  This includes a ‘guided practica’ session when you will have the opportunity to practice what you have learned, focusing on areas you may find more challenging, with the teachers on hand to give friendly guidance if you need it.  You can then go on dancing until 10.30pm if you have the energy!

The cost of the course is £50 (£40 concessions) to be paid in advance.

Yes, this Wednesday (30 March) we have our general level class with Laura and Mike at 7.30pm followed by a Practilonga.  8.30pm to 10.30pm the floor will be ready for you to dance to tandas of tango, vals and milonga, with some alternative tracks too!

Wednesday night

This Wednesday, standing in for Laura and Mike, we have Billy Henderson from TangoNess teaching both classes, ably assisted by Fiona.

Get yourself along to St Margaret's church hall on Gallowgate to give a Tango Aberdeen welcome to Billy.  You'll love his classes!

Take to the floor and dance tango!

Mike returns this week to teach both classes on Wednesday.  We had two great classes last week and look forward to seeing what Mike has planned for us tomorrow night.

Come along to St Margaret's church hall on Gallowgate to find out!

Great!

We had two great classes taught by Mike last night.  In the beginner class we had a section on connection, and then we went on to explore ochos and the transition between the forward and the backward ocho.  The second class concentrated on the planeo and the variations that can be applied to the dance.

Nice one Mike!

Until next week.

This week's classes

We welcome Mike this week (without Laura as unfortunately she is still recovering from an injury) to teach both our classes.  Come along and see him in action and join us for a great night of tango classes.

7.30 start at St Margaret's church hall on Gallowgate.

Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who came along last night to wish Adrian well on his next adventure.  We had a great night with, yet again, two very good classes.

We gave him a small gift from Tango Aberdeen as a thank you for all his hard work over the past 5 years.

Good luck Adrian we will miss you!

A special Wednesday!

This Wednesday, 2 March, will be the last time we have Adrian as our teacher as he is off to pastures new.  Join us to say a fond farewell and to thank him for 5 wonderful years with Tango Aberdeen.

We start the evening as usual at 7.30 for the Beginner and 8.45 for the next level up, and the more experienced dancer. We will finish off the evening with dancing until 10 (ish).

Fear not, our classes will still be running as usual with teachers Laura and Mike!

IT'S PRACTILONGA TIME!

This coming Wednesday, 24 February, we bring you more dancing - in the way of a Practilonga.

The first part of the evening will be an hour's class with Adrian from 7.30 to 8.30.  This class is suitable for everyone to join in and will put you in the mood for the two hours of dancing afterwards. Yes, it's PRACTILONGA TIME!  A bit less informal than a Milonga but none the less in a traditional milonga format with tandas of tango, vals and milonga (one tanda specially for those who like more modern tangos) and cortinas!

St Margaret's church hall is the place to be (our usual weekly venue) and the whole evening is £6 (£5 concessions) or £3 for the Practilonga only.

Get yourself along we look forward to seeing you!

Amanda, Linda, Phil and Stewart (your Tango Aberdeen organisers).

Congratulations!

We are excited that our teacher Adrian got married on Saturday to his lovely fiancee Rosalind.  We wish you all the happiness in the world!

Mike teaching this Wednesday!

Mike returns, unfortunately without Laura as she has an injury, to teach both classes this Wednesday evening.  Come along to St Margaret's church hall at 7.30 for the beginner class and at 8.45 for the more experienced dancer and see what he has lined up for us.  There will be dancing in between the classes and afterwards.

We look forrward to seeing you!

Thanks Mike!

We want to say thank you to Mike for standing in for Adrian this week at short notice.  Once again two lovely classes - we are so lucky to have such good teachers at Tango Aberdeen.

Mike and Laura will be back next Wednesday to teach our classes as Adrian will be preparing himself to walk down the aisle with the lovely Rosalind.

Once again thanks Mike!

Forget the weather!

Get yourself along to St Margaret's church hall on Gallowgate for a night of Argentine tango.  Two classes on offer - check out our classes page for full details!

See you there!

PRACTILONGA!

Hi everyone - it's coming up to the last Wednesday of the month and we promised to give you more dance time!

Starting at 7.30pm Adrian will teach a one hour class for all levels, whether you are a beginner or more experienced dancer there will be something in the class that will benefit you.

From 8.30pm until 10.30pm we will have our Practilonga - not a formal Milonga but something in between a Practica and a Milonga - so don't be shy and get yourself along to St Margaret's church hall on Gallowgate for a night of dancing and socialising.  We are a friendly bunch and welcome everyone to join us!

The cost of the class and Practilonga is £6 (£5 concessions), or for just the Practilonga £3.

What are your waiting for - make a note in your diary to visit us!

Very informative!

You will have loved our classes on Wednesday as once again Adrian taught two excellent classes.  Adrian really concentrates on technique and ensuring that a good understanding of why we do certain things is important.  The first class led up to the movement of the cross and its importance for including in your dance.  The second class saw the return of the gancho and how to execute it correctly.

We had a great time - until next week!

What a great start to 2016!

Last night we saw the return of our weekly classes after the short festive break.  It was great to see our regulars and lovely to see some new faces too!

Adrian, once again, taught us two good classes.  The first class concentrated on the forward ocho and the importance of good technique to execute this move.  The second class featured forward and backward ochos with unconventional ways of exiting.  A most enjoyable evening, finishing off with some lovely dancing.

Until next week......................................

Wonderful Wednesday is looming!

Yes, we will be back this Wednesday at 7.30 to begin 2016 with our weekly classes!  St Margaret's church hall awaits you, so get your shoes ready.

2016!

The Tango Aberdeen organisers, Amanda, Linda, Phil and Stewart, wish you peace, good health, and happiness in 2016.

Happy New Year - Frohes neues Jahr, Bonne année, Feliz Año Nuevo, Feliz Anno Nuovo, Szczęśliwego nowego roku,  C Новым годом, ευτυχισμένο το νέο έτος, an nou fericit.

Merry Christmas everyone!

We wish you all a Merry Christmas. Joyeux Noël, Fröhliche Weihnachten, Feliz Navidad, Buon Natale, Wesołych Świąt, С Рождеством, καλά Χριστούγεννα, Crặciun Fericit - from Amanda, Linda, Phil, and Stewart - your Tango Aberdeen organisers.

A great night!

We want to thank all of you who came along to our festive evening last night!

What a transformation of a church hall, with festive decorations, fairy lights, mulled wine (non-alcoholic of course), mince pies and sausage rolls.  There were Christmassy cortinas but sadly only one santa hat (spot the loony).

We had great fun and hope you did too!  Until 6 January 2016.

Let's start the festivities!

This coming Wednesday, 16 December, will be our last night of tango before we break for the festive period and we would like you to join us for a night of dancing.

We will kick off the evening with an hour's lesson that will be suitable for everyone, starting at 7.30.  From then on the dance floor will be yours to dance the night away until 10.30.  This Mini-Milonga will have a festive touch so dress as you please!

The whole evening will be £6 (£5 concessions), or £3 if you just wish to come along for the Mini Milonga.

The Tango Aberdeen team look forward to seeing you at St Margaret's church hall to enjoy a festive night of Argentine tango.

Walk this way!

Your feet are made for walking, helping with balance, and for dancing tango!  Visit us tomorrow night at St Margaret's church hall on Gallowgate for your weekly fix of Argentine tango.  We start at 7.30 so check out the Classes page for full details.

The dance floor is ready and waiting for you!

The cross

Last night Adrian taught two classes with the theme of 'the cross' - one of the key elements of tango.  The first class saw the beginner dancers learn the technique of how to execute the cross, with the second class introducing a variation of the element with adornment.  The classes were very informative with a degree of humour attached.  We hope you get to practice before next week!

Nothing nicer than.....................

a tango embrace on an Autumn Wednesday evening.

Join us for our weekly classes at St Margaret's church hall - you are warmly welcomed!  (Visit our classes page for full details).

Wonderful Wednesday

We're back to our usual format this Wednesday with the beginner class at 7.30pm, followed by a short dance interval before the improver class at 8.45pm. Adrian will teach both classes, paying particular attention to giving the beginner class the essential tool kit to start you on your tango journey.

We look forward to you joining us at St Margaret's church hall, where we bring a little piece of Argentina to Aberdeen!

Spooky Wednesday!

This week we will have something a little bit different to our normal evening to celebrate Halloween.  We will have an hour's class from 7.30 to suit all levels of dancer, from the beginner to the more advanced dancer - so everyone is welcome.  From 8.30 until 10.00 we will have a Practilonga with some ghoulish treats - so you can dress for the occasion too!

£6 (£5 concessions) for the evening or £2 for the Practilonga.

Hope you can make it!

Halloween!

Wednesday 28 October is near to Halloween and we have decided to have a change of programme for our Wednesday classes.  Adrian will plan a class to suit all so everyone is welcome, including beginners, - this will be from 7.30 to 8.30.  There will be a Practilonga (that's a fancy name for 'just dance') from 8.30 to 10.00 with spooky treats.  You can dress appropriately if you wish!

The evening, class and Practilonga, will be £6 (£5 concessions) or £2 for just the Practilonga.

Get your fiendish self along to St Margaret's church hall for a devilish night!

Come and dance tango!

We have our very talented teacher, Adrian Hirschmuller, back this week to teach both of our classes.  Firstly we have the class for the people just starting out in tango - but it's always good to go back to basics and not forget the beginnings of how the dance is executed!  For that reason we always welcome the more experienced dancer too!  Secondly we have the class for the next level up, but you must be able to be confident in leading and following ochos, the giro and the cross.  Again we welcome all our more experienced dancers.

The programme for the evening is:

7.30 to 8.30 Beginner class

8.30 to 8.45 Dance interval

8.45 to 9.30 Improver class

9.30 to 10.00 Just dance!

We look forward to seeing you at St Margaret's church hall on Gallowgate ready and willing to light up the dance floor!

A great night!

We had a great turnout at class last night - the floor was buzzing!

Unfortunately Laura and Mike were unable to teach for us due to Mike not being well.  We hope he has a speedy recovery and will see him back dancing tango soon.

At the very last minute John Newton helped us out with teaching the class and we very much thank him for that.

It was a great night so thanks to everyone who turned up!

Wednesday 14 October

Hi everyone!  As Adrian will be away on Wednesday we have the lovely Laura and Mike standing in to teach our two classes at St Margaret's church hall.  We start the evening at 7.30 with the class for the beginner which will be followed by a short practice interval before the improver class begins at 8.45.  There will be dance time from 9.30 to 10.00 for everyone!

Remember it is often good to go back to the basics of the dance and therefore we welcome those more experienced dancers in the beginner class too!  For the improver class you must be confident in leading and following the cross, the giro and ochos.

Looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday.  The dance floor awaits you!

Classes tomorrow!

Adrian will be back from his jaunt in Berlin to teach two classes on Wednesday evening.  7.30 for the beginner and 8.45 for the improver (and those more experienced dancers).  There will be a practice interlude in between the classes and dancing for all at the end of the evening from 9.30 to 10.00.

We want to thank Laura and Mike for stepping in to teach the classes for the two weeks while Adrian was away - thank you!

See you tomorrow night!

A BIG THANK YOU!

St Margaret's church hall is the place to learn wonderful Argentine tango.

Get your shoes ready!

Thanks!

We want to thank John and Fiona (Tangodee) for teaching two great classes last night!

Wednesday 25 March

Adrian will not be available to teach our two classes this week but we have John and Fiona from Tangodee who will be stepping into his shoes (so to speak).

John and Fiona are experienced dancers who have visited Buenos Aires on many occasions to take tango lessons with very well known teachers, they also regularly partake in workshops to further their knowledge.  They would like to share some of that knowledge with you for the two classes and look forward to welcoming you along on Wednesday evening.

We are very fortunate to be able to have them on hand to help out.

Thank you!

Followers!

We have leaders waiting to dance on a Wednesday evening at 7.30 and 8.45 and they need you to dance with them!  What are you waiting for?  Get yourselves along to St Margaret's church hall on Gallowgate.

3 May - afternoon of tango!

As promised we have arranged another chance for you to dance!  We have booked a very special venue for an afternoon of Argentine tango.  Place Sunday 3 May in your diary!  An event organised by the Tango Aberdeen organisers and John and Fiona from Tangodee. Full details will be available soon.

Giving something back!

Our classes so far this year have been very well attended and we would like to give you something in return for your support to keep Argentine tango alive in Aberdeen.

We have put our heads together and have come up with a few plans to keep your feet happy!

Watch this space and keep a keen eye on the Tango Aberdeen Facebook page for information.

It's nearly Wednesday!

Join us Wednesday evening at St Margaret's church hall on Gallowgate and share our passion for this beautiful dance!  We have been a little short of ladies in the past couple of weeks so guys encourage your lady friends to join you for a night of Argentine tango - embrace and dance.

We look forward to seeing you at 7.30 for the beginner class and at 8.45 for the improver class.

Walk and drive safely.

Thanks Laura and Mike

WOW!  What a great turn out at class last night and a BIG 'thank you' to Laura and Mike for standing in at short notice.  It was touch and go that they would make it, as earlier in the evening they had a snow blizzard where they live, but luckily it died down and they were able to teach us two lovely classes.

It was great to see the beginners go through the movement of the backward ocho and then the improvers incorporate both the Americana and the planeo into their dance.  Great elements to work on!  As Mike said "It's a bit like putting pieces of lego together" - and that's exactly it!

See you next week.

This week's tango

This week we have Laura and Mike teach both classes as Adrian has exams and needs to study.  As you may realise Tango Aberdeen has a supply of 'stand in' teachers to enable classes to continue without disruption - we are very fortunate.

Look forward to seeing you on Wednesday for a lovely evening of Argentine tango.

See you at St Margarets!

Can you be tempted?

Ladies.... recently there's been quite a few occasions when there just haven't been enough of you to help the lads practice their floor craft.
So come along and help these 'fine specimens' realise their potential and grace them with your presence.

7.30 Beginner class and 8.45 Improver class Wednesday at St Margaret's church hall on Gallowgate.

Hope to see you!

A great start to 2015!

We had a great turn out last night for the first of our classes in the new year.  There were lots of new faces and some who we haven't seen for a long while -welcome!

Remember that we teach authentic Argentine tango for social dancing so that you can dance with others all over the world.  There are no routines taught in our classes as Argentine tango is an improvised dance so once you understand the basics it is then up to you to interpret the music and make it your own!

Looking forward to seeing you all next week.

WE'RE BACK ON WEDNESDAY!

After a short break we're back in full tango mode with our two classes on Wednesday starting at 7.30pm.  Get on down to St Margaret's church hall on Gallowgate and support the Argentine tango fraternity of Aberdeen.

Check the Classes page for full details of what we have on offer for you!

IT'S 2015!

The organisers of Tango Aberdeen wish you all a very Happy New Year, Frohes neues Jahr, Bonne année, Feliz Año Nuevo, Feliz Anno Nuovo, Szczęśliwego nowego roku,С Новым годом, 新年快樂.

Here's to a happy and healthy new year filled with lots of tango embraces.
