Tango Aberdeen News

Practica time!

We had a Practica last night and everyone enjoyed the lovely chocolates that Alan and Sheila brought with them, along with chocolate digestives and tea. It was a good evening but we could have had lots more people on the dance floor.  Remember you need to practice if you want to improve your dancing and then you will be more confident at Milongas and on other social occasions.

Where else can you get two and a half hours of dancing for £3 (and tea and biscuits)!  See you next time.

Last night's practica

Well a good night was had by all.  The dance floor was very active last night with couples dancing at the Practica.  The music was traditional with tango, vals and milonga and we all enjoyed a cup of tea with a lovely carrot cake made by Fiona (yummy Fiona, thanks). It would have been nice to have seen some of the Wednesday class members joining in with the more experienced dancers, who are always on hand to offer advice if needed, so perhaps next week they will turn up.  Remember, practice is the key to good dancing!

Hope to see you back with us next Sunday!

What a great start to 2012

Last night brought lots of dancers to Tango Aberdeen.  It was really good to see the new people along with some of our regulars in the embrace dancing tango.  Adrian was on good form and taught a really good class and by the end everyone was moving anti-clockwise round the floor - if you didn't join us you missed out!

There is, however, a class being taught by Mike and Laura on Sunday for those who have at least 6 months dance experience followed by a Practica for all levels of dancer.  Don't miss it.

2012 classes start this Wednesday!

Don't miss out on our first tango classes for 2012!  We welcome back Adrian from his holiday and will start at 7.30pm for an hour's beginner class followed by 15 minutes of practice.  If you qualify for the second class you can stay on for the 45 minute Improver class and dance until 10pm. We look forward to seeing some new faces and will welcome back those that have danced with Tango Aberdeen in the past.

Don't forget there is plenty of opportunities to practice what you have learned in the classes by coming along to the Practicas on Sundays at 7.30pm.  There are always more experienced dancers at Practicas who can guide you in the right direction if you need assistance.

It's 2012!

It's 2012 and we hope you have celebrated the beginning of this new year with family and friends. Let's hope it is going to be a good one for us all!

We have thought long and hard about Tango Aberdeen in 2012 and to survive the economic climate we have had to make a slight change to our Sunday programme, but are sure you will like what we have to offer.

There will be more opportunities to dance as, although classes are a very important part of the learning process, practice is the way to improve.  Therefore our Sunday programme will be:

First Sunday of the month - Milonga from 7.30pm to 10pm

Second, fourth and fifth (if there is one) of the month - Practica from 7.30pm to 10pm

Third Sunday of the month - Class for Improver+ from 7.30pm to 8.30pm with Mike and Laura, followed by a Practica for all levels of dancer until 9.30pm.

Our prices remain the same as does the format for our Wednesday classes with Adrian (see Classes page for full details).

We hope you will continue to support us in this new year and look forward to seeing you all on Sunday 8 January!

Merry Christmas!

Hi everyone - we hope you all have a good time over the Christmas period and that Santa will visit you with lots of lovely presents.  You will possibly be having a well earned break and spending time with your family and friends and no doubt some of you could be dancing tango.  For all of you reading this - Amanda, Andrew, Helen, Linda and Stewart (those who organise Tango Aberdeen) would like to thank you for your support over the last year and hope you will return to dance with us again in 2012.  And to those of you who are reading this but not danced tango before you will be most welcome to come to our beginner's class to learn how to dance Argentine tango - you will love it!

Last night!

We had a lovely evening last night with a class taught by Laura and Mike followed by a practica with festive nibbles.  We would like to thank everyone for coming along and making the night very sociable and a nice way to end our sessions for 2011.

We will be back in 2012 on Sunday 8 January with a Practica.  Visit the classes page.

Thank you Adrian!

Adrian taught his last class for 2011 last night as he is off to Berlin for a break (no doubt will get some great tango in while there).  He will be back on Wednesday 11 January 2012 to teach our Wednesday classes.

Have a great holiday and festive break and thanks for everything you have done for Tango Aberdeen in 2011!
